WAKE UP IN A DIFFERENT WORLD
Wickhams Retreat enjoyed many, many years of splendour before losing momentum and unfortunately finally closing down. Now under new ownership and management, the property has undergone some dramatic improvements to what was already an iconic estate.
Owners, Mitch and Deejay, have drawn inspiration from the Eden project in Cornwall England to bring a Retreat to Wickhams. There; a disused china clay pit, totally sterile 20 years ago is now described as a “cradle of life”. Its scale is beyond comprehension, but its principles, is what Mitch and Deejay have drawn inspiration from for their Retreat.
Our Vision
The core of our vision is to create an exciting educational experience that focuses on human capital development, which will provide development for future and current leaders in a conservation estate.
Wickhams Vision looks to incorporate:
- self- sustainability in the world of Agri Tourism, horticulture and agricultural possibilities including, hydroponics and aquaponics. The aim is to be fully self- sustained and off the grid within three years.
- water that is sourced entirely onsite, encouraging responsible and efficient water usage in all projects.
- green buildings that will accommodate children’s camps built by using alternative methods such as sand bag techniques and as much of the farm’s natural materials, including alien tree species.
- partnering with academic institutions such as Universities, to advance research into agri and business science that can readily be applied into everyday business practice.
