We had such a lovely time at Wickmans Country retreat. If you want peace and quite, then this is the place for you. It was a great adventure getting there. You certainly need a 4 x 4!! It is also dog friendly!!! So, everybody enjoyed the open space. We stayed at Tree Ferns. It was spacious, clean, with a well equipped kitchen. The fireplace was amazing. At night, you will be spoilt with a sky filled with bright stars. We definitely will return!!!

Loved every moment here. The trout was biting like crazy, we couldn’t stop pulling them in. The accommodation was superb, we will return!! The road is quite bad and would recommend a 4x4, if you don’t have one the owners assist with transportation.

We left Wickham's Country Retreat with one thing in my mind, "The mountains are calling we must go" and we will definitely be going back so we can hike. Our stay was AMAZING! We were surrounded by pine trees and a beautiful dam for fly-fishing. Once inside, the self-catering stone cottage was cozy, welcoming, intimate, romantic, great view, and secluded just as we pictured it... an "adventurer's delight".This is the place to be in Dullstroom (The Highest Point In South Africa). From the beautiful property to the outstanding hosts themselves, you can’t ask for a more peaceful and rejuvenating stay. Our hosts Deejay & Mitch made the check-in and -out processes so smooth. The tap water taste so good as it's clean and purified through a 12 filter system! There is available wifi if you absolutely have to be connected to the world otherwise there is no mobile network coverage in most of the property. What a delight to your senses to be submerged in a gallery of natural stunning beauty, absolutely worth visiting with fascinating flora and fauna, skyscraping trees, valleys and peaks of mountain ridges. Depending on what cottage you chose, or what is available, you'll be able to absorb the scenery, with walking trails that reveal the experiences and legacy to protect nature in our eyes, and a bonus if you've got photographic techniques as you'll be deeply impressed capturing nature at its best. Once you are out there, it will be one of the most magical experiences of your life, what a tribute to life and beauty! Our stay was splendid with an enchanted fog with rain, though we would have loved to hike this beautiful hilly countryside.Despite the chilly December weather at this place, the fireplace kept us warm, and there was no need to wait for hot water in the showers. Perfect cozy getaway for a couple, family or group of friends.Just one word to describe our weekend at Wickham's Country Retreat…. “PERFECT”The best 10/10Clean 10/10Service 10/10Location 10/10Communication 10/10Simply PERFECTRecommended 100%JOO & FRIENDS (ADVENTURE JUNKIE)

The hosts are warm, friendly, efficient and generous. MK is just amazing!!!!The cottages (Pines and Ferns) are fully equipped, clean, homely, comfortable with that personal touch. An environmentally friendly home away from home! The roads were wet and we needed 4x4's to get to the cottages. MK and Mitch were on hand to give us rides. Thank you!It was misty and chilly throughout the weekend. The fireplaces kept us warm. Thanks for the Wifi.If you want peace and tranquility this is the place to be. The views are absolutely amazing.Thank you Wickham's Retreat. I'll be making many more to Wickham's!

Wow wow wow, this place and surroundings are jaw dropping beautiful. If you want a holiday away from everything, this place is perfect. Deejay and Mitch made sure we were comfortable and happy all the time, they are extremely amazing hosts. Beautiful rooms, extremely comfortable beds. You must have a high clearance car for the gravel road. We really enjoyed this Wickhams Retreat a lot!!!

I took my wife to Wickham's retreat for our first wedding anniversary. The legendary hosts, Deejay and Mitch, pulled out all stops for us, including: beautiful flowers, a lovely bottle of champagne and hand-picked chocolates on arrival; an intimate cellar dinner, creating a tasty home-cooked meal based on our culinary preferences; organising another dinner at a fantastic restaurant in town; and endless tips and advice on how to make the most of our trip. Deejay was also super patient with me as an amateur but stubborn fly-fisherman!Tree Fern lodge sits in its own little private amphitheater, focused on a stunning trout dam, with incredibly scenic hikes all around. While very secluded, the amenities are all there and very reliable. The newly renovated lodge is dusted with Deejay's (and Mitch's?) obvious eye for design - very cosy! We'll be back for sure, thanks Deejay and Mitch!

One of the best holidays I’ve had! Deejay and Mitch were lovely and welcomed us into their beautiful home which forms part of the hotel. The manager, Rob, is extremely helpful and friendly. The fishing initially was an issue but was sorted quickly by going above and beyond which was an incredible gesture and greatly appreciated by an avid angler. My wife, daughter and two dogs had an unforgettable holiday at Wickhams. Firewood is provided which is just brilliant for the fireplaces or braai. The one and only downside is the rather long and difficult dirt road getting to the lodge which may require 4x4 if wet, other than that everything was spectacular. Thank you so much we will certainly return and recommend Wickhams.

Wickhams Country Retreat, what a treat.Wickhams has recently been renovated and reopened under new management. Wickhams consists of 2 self catering cottages (The Pines and Treeferns) and the Manor House BnB.We stayed in The Pines cottage, which has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a loft bedroom as well. The cottage has a beautiful view over the countryside and two dams in front. The cottage has a well appointed kitchen and two lovely fireplaces inside. One has the house and surrounds to oneself, which is so peaceful.A warning, the roads to access the houses are rough. Higher clearance vehicles are required to access The Pines and a 4 x 4 is needed for the Manor House access. If you don’t have a vehicle like this, contact the owners and I’m sure they’ll be more than happy to assist. There is also limited cell signal in the area, making this a real retreat from city life.We took a walk around the stylish Manor House and can highly recommend a visit or stay. There are lovely running and cycling routes (& Strava segments) to explore in the area.I look forward to our next stay at Wickhams 💙

The Pines Guest house, which is part of Wickhams Retreat owned properties, was a home away from home! Fully equipped guest house.Very clean and well kept.My best were the two fire places inside, in the lounge and dining rooms. The views are exceptional, plus the 3 dams outside. Its serene, quite and peacefuI.I was lucky to be there during the full moon, which made it a great experience to see an orange moon steadily rising and clear sky with stars at nite.Rob the caretaker whom welcomed us,was more than welcoming. Thanks Rob.This would be certainly my annual retreat place of choice.Pls Note: Its advisable to drive a 4x4 vehicle to reach the 1-2 km once you go off road to reach The Pines Guest House.Be aware theres no network when you reach the guest house, however wifi its provided for whatsapp and being online.
